Minutes of the Meeting - February 14, 2008
President, Robert Ridenour, called the
meeting to order.
Reports:
Secretary Barbara Hitch reported that
dues are now due. She reported that the printing and postage costs averaged
$18. per member last year. Cemetery Book XVI, Valley
View Cemetery, is now available for $12 plus $3 if mailed.
Librarian Elsie Wasser
reported that she has received a newer plat of Quercus
Grove Cemetery. The second ten-year Stalker index is being
compiled by Scott Delicate. Elsie also reported that she has many
obituaries for the Glenwood Cemetery which need
entering into the computer.
Several guests were present: Cathy Lumere, from Hayner Library; the
speaker, Lewis Knackstedt, and his wife, Lorene;
Ronald Mindrup, and his wife, Mindy.
Lewis Knackstedt
presented a program titled Restoration
of Vincent Cemetery, Alhambra, Illinois.
Mr. Knackstedt
discussed the work that was performed in cleaning the brush and trees from the
cemetery; the cleaning and resetting of the stones; the dowsing and location of
830 unmarked graves by Jim Collmann; and the
placement of a memorial stone for the 950 individuals in the graveyard. On one work day, they had sixteen people working on the cleanup and
restoration.
